Our Favorite Mezcal Cocktails

Smoky Margarita

2 oz mezcal
1 oz lime juice
1 oz orange liqueur
1/2 oz agave nectar
Salt, for rim

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake until chilled and strain into a salt-rimmed glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Spicy Paloma

2 oz mezcal
3 oz grapefruit juice
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz jalapeño simple syrup*
Club soda, for topping
Lime wedge, for garnish

Combine mezcal, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and jalapeño simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake until chilled and strain into a glass filled with ice. Top with club soda and garnish with a lime wedge.

*To make jalapeño simple syrup, combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and 1-2 sliced jalapeños in a saucepan. Heat until sugar is dissolved, then let cool and strain out jalapeños.

Oaxacan Mule

2 oz mezcal
1 oz lime juice
4 oz ginger beer
Lime wheel, for garnish

Fill a copper mug with ice. Add the mezcal and lime juice, then top with ginger beer. Stir gently and garnish with a lime wheel.

Mezcal Negroni

1 oz mezcal
1 oz sweet vermouth
1 oz Campari
Orange twist, for garnish

Combine mezcal, sweet vermouth, and Campari in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until chilled and strain into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with an orange twist.
